Ever since I was a little baby there was one thing I always had, a pet. Everything from dogs, cats, birds, fishes, hamsters, rabbits till chameleons. There was even a time where I didn’t have a TV but never without an animal had we loved. This entry is going to be dedicated to the friends from nature that has accompanied me through the walk of life. I’m going to list some of the names I remember
Dogs: Toby,Jimmy(no1),Jessy,Rambo,Wishbone,Lucky,Jimmy(no2),Pinky,Chelsea,Alex
Cat: Issac
Bird: Lucas(Kingfisher),Unnamed Small Green Hawk,Unnamed Pidgin,Unnamed Mynah
Hamster: Ambi,Abirami
Rabbit: Bunny
Fishes: 3 Arowana’s, 5 Japanese Kois, Loads of Tiny fishes
Chameleons: 3 Unnamed
The birds we had were mostly injured birds or abandoned babies that we nursed before setting free again. The chameleons were wild chameleons that made our little garden as their home. The fishes were never named since they didn’t really respond to humans except when you feed them. The Hamsters were bought for my sister. The rabbit was brought back by our pet dogs when we went for a walk (The dogs didn’t harm the rabbit) lol.
Among all my pets my favourite were still the common ones, the cat and dogs. Cats are really fun to watch and they clean up well themselves and are responsive to human interactions but just not as much as dogs. According to my girlfriend though, cats can be trained to be responsive too but the cat i had would only come to me when he wants to x.x. Dogs on the other hand, they crave your attention. They come to you even when you don’t call them even a slight gesture is enough for them to run towards you. They are the most lovable animals I’ve ever had, they love you unconditionally. Even if you hit them for things they did, they would still come running to you the next day. Dogs love unconditionally, you give your heart to them and they will return it with added interest. They don’t expect anything extra from you, they don’t care what race you are, what religion you are, how stupid you are, how rich you are, you can feed them scrubs from the side of the road and they will be loyal to you.
Can you find another human being who would be like that? Someone who don’t care about how you look, what you do, who you pray to, how much money you have, how you behave and still love you. Now you wonder, why a dog and not another human is a man’s best friend?
Taking care of dogs and keeping them well fed and treated is not an easy task. You need to bath them, take them for walks, feed them, immunize then from illness, make sure they don’t get tics, play with them and clean up after them. This is why people who are lonely are advised to get a dog, to keep them occupied and not let their minds wonder and in return get love and company from the animal. They are the best things to teach kids responsibility and the harsh facts of live. Kids learn responsibility and eventually they learn life lead to death eventually and get them accustomed to losing loved ones in life.
I’ve already got 4 dogs a rabbit and a pond full of tiny fishes now, although frankly speaking it’s my mom who’s doing most of the work. But once I move in to my own place I’d first have a cat, where there is not much work involved (not as much as dogs). Once I’m married a dog would be essential, where me and my future wife can feel a little of the responsibility that awaits us when we have kids.
That's all for this time guys. To my favourite puppy of all time, Wishbone thanks for all your love I hope that speedy little legs of yours have taken you to heaven and youre enjoying it up there. May your soul rest in peace. Peace out
